PRESIDENTS REPORT

Life is a work in progress, ever changing like the sands at the seashore.

Art is a part of our lives and it too, is ever changing. We grow with each class that we take, each demo we watch, and each book that we read. We are not all cut from the same piece of fabric.  Life experiences shape our thinking and feelings. Each person has an extremely personal way of achieving their goals and each with a different vision.  In a workshop, I had with Edgar Whitney, he stated,

"No door is closed to the stubborn student."

What it takes is desire, determination and perseverance. You do not need academic training; your level of skill right now does not matter. Art can be taught.

For some the goal is to relax and have a good time painting and having fellowship with like minded people.  For others, they want to grow in their art experience and even become certified teachers. DAGSO is a group that unites people with the same interests and our motto is “Caring and Sharing”.

WHAT IS DECORATIVE ART?
It is any kind of painting with any medium on any surface. It ranges from furniture and walls to canvas, Watercolor paper, wood or tin. The process is easily taught. All levels of painting experience from beginners to professional students take the classes together, studying the same design. The pattern is traced and transferred onto the surface of choice. Then the instructor demonstrates and explains sections of the painting at a time, until the whole painting is finished. The idea of DAGSO was to find people to share this very exciting art form, and to have a good time in the process.

The slate of instructors that we have for 2008 is extraordinary. To name a few, we have master oil painter Marian Jackson, fine artist Christopher Brian, watercolorist Mark Polomchak, and Floyd Hook who travel teaches all over the USA.

..for love of anything is the offspring of knowledge,
love being more fervent in proportion as knowledge is more certain.
LEONARDO DA VINCI

You do not have to be a member of DAGSO to come to a class/workshop.  Come as my guest, and then decide.   I’ll be looking for you.  MARILYNE
